The 2007 Angostura Tobago Sail Week, with the theme of “The Spirit of Racing“, promises to be full of surprises as it celebrates its 25th anniversary. Organised by the Trinidad and Tobago Sailing Association, the Tobago Sail Week has evolved into one of the Caribbean’s premier regatta events. While the sail week itself is sponsored by Angostura, other companies sponsor different days to provide new experiences for dedicated yachties. Though the focus is the sailing, the mid-week break or “Lay Day” gives sailors the opportunity to make friends, enjoy Tobago’s hospitality and throw care to the wind. Crown Point Beach Hotel has established itself as the preferred base for the Sail Week with the Regatta Village, which will offer participants and visitors opportunities to sample Tobago’s cuisine or buy something special to take home, as well as listen to local music aired by its on-site DJ Mario Whitley. The Sail Week starts with the Skipper’s Briefing on May 13 and ends with the Angostura Awards Night on May 18. To add to the excitement, a new class—multihull—has been included in the hope that boats from St Lucia will be interested in entering.

The Angostura Tobago Sail Week takes place at Crown Point Beach Hotel, Tobago from May 13 to 18. For more information, visit www.sailweek.com or e-mail regattapromotersltd@tstt.net.tt
