Born in Guyana of Barbadian parentage, Simon Foster was trained at the Royal College of Art in London, and returned to Barbados in the 1970s, where he quickly became a style icon among jetsetters on the island’s west coast — the “Platinum Coast.” Foster and his protégé Peter Bowen, under the simonpeter label, are inspired by the colours of Barbados’s flora and fauna, skies and sea. “Take all of it,” Foster says, “mix it in a can of sheer art, and this is what you get coming out of the studios of simonpeter.”
