In Trinidad, the traditional sound of Christmas is Spanish-inflected parang

Less than ten miles off the coast of Venezuela, Trinidad shares several cultural traditions with its bigger neighbour — including parang, the Spanish-inflected sound of the Christmas season. In some communities, paranderos keep up the custom of roving from house to house, singing the old songs to the accompaniment of cuatros and maracas.
