With expert craftsmanship inspired by clean lines, natural forms, and a sense of movement, it’s really no surprise that the work of Trinidadian jewellery designer Janice Derrick caught our eye. Her contemporary pieces developed during an art foundation course where she studied three-dimensional design using materials such as wood and plastic, but it was her training in silversmithing and jewellery at London Guildhall University that sealed the deal for this talented designer. Derrick’s use of gold, sterling, and oxidised silver is impeccable, especially when combined together to create delicate and unique pieces. Her work stands apart from the trends — which is why you should invest in a few.
